Q: we currently use a feather duvet and the feathers keep bunching up around our feet, will silk do the same thing?

A: All our silk duvets are stitched so that the silk floss will stay in place.

Q: I suffer from asthma. Will silk help me?

A: Silk is hypoallergenic and contains sericin, which is mite-resistant. Unlike other natural bedding materials (particularly down, feathers and wool), silk will not harbour these mites, perfect for those with allergies

Q: How can a silk duvet be warm in winter and cool in the summer?

A: Silk filaments have 33%-38% of space in structure, which can keep air and moisture in or out, depending on weather conditions. In hot weather, silk can absorb and transfer extra heat and moisture and thus keep a comfortable sleeping environment. In cold weather, because of the air in the structure of the silk filaments, the duvet is insulated so that the heat inside is not lost. In this way, the silk filled duvet is able to “breathe”. It can create the unique “warm in winter, cool in summer” effect for which it is renowned.

Q: I do not understand the togg/weight differences in silk compared to a standard feather or polyester duvet.

A: The system for measuring heat retention in silk duvets is different to the togg system. Silk is measured in weight, the lighter the weight of silk the less heat retention. A king size summer duvet would have 1.1 kgs of mulberry silk filling as opposed to the Spring/Autumn would have 1.9 kgs, most find this weight enough for the winter months. The summer and the Spring/Autumn duvets can be joined together to give a full winter weight of 3.0 kgs, this weight is just the Mulberry silk filling and does not include the weight of the cotton or silk cover.

Q: I find the prices are from one extreme to another, is this due to the quality of the silk? Therefore should I spend more money to get a better quality duvet?

A: The best quality silk is the long strand grade A mulberry silk. All of our products are made from this silk. We are a small company in the West Country; Our prices are based on a small profit, making our silk items affordable.
